I am a writer. I'm not totally sure if I'm any good at my craft, but maybe you can help me? I'm open to all honesty.
Now, as I put off doing my homework in hopes of starting this project, I will be periodically posting random poems and maybe some short fiction. All will be behind cuts. And you don't *have* to be a LJ member to read/comment.
If you like what you read, it'd be fantastic if you spread the word :)

ALSO: Please, if you have a comment, post it here! Not on the place where you got the link (ie, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) It helps me in editing.

Poems and stuff are private for right now. Lots of stuff going on. <3
So, hello? I didn't think anyone still paid attention to me, but whatever. It's been a really long time since I've posted anything meaningful on here. Granted, my summer has just begun.
I wrote a few things over the school year, but nothing too awesome. I've had a really difficult year, actually. Two people I adored dearly (well, one woman I adored dearly and a man I wish I could have adored dearly) passed away within 2 months of each other. Then, I just fucked up (scholastically) this past spring semester. I don't really have an excuse. Maybe too much partying. Maybe I just didn't have a desire to wake up for a 9.10 class.
Regardless, I think I have time to straighten myself out.
Right now, my cat is draped across my left leg and hitting random buttons on the key board. She's so adorable and I think she missed me. Like, "OH, my Jenny is back! I missed her so much! Ooooh rubrubrub on her hands that type things. Oooooh rubrubrub."
*ahem*
Lastly, I've rekindled my love of a certain art form that actually got me started writing. It involves pretty boys in a band I'm really quite in love with. I might be writing in that style (maybe) but I do have (yet another) project up my sleeve. Jeebus pants, I have a few projects going on. One of which will be happening strictly at Augsburg College starting in the fall. Stay tuned!
All right. Lily has been putting her paws on my hands in an effort to stop them from typing. If that isn't a hint, I don't know what is.

True story: In my haste of writing this out on paper, I actually wrote "know one will know" in the second to last line. I've reread this poem several times, but I only just noticed it now.

This is based off the song "Gem" by Zoot Woman. I loooove the song. Problem is, this poem doesn't really represent the melancholia I feel from the song. I plan on doing a better job later, so this poem is "Gem I". Haha.

The title has nothing to do with the Radiohead song. It's just what I was listening to while I wrote this, and it seemed a fitting--if not comforting--title.

See? Just writing about being nervous makes me nervous.
This is unreal.
I blame Silversun Pickups for making me panic.

So, I've been writing a lot, and I will have a bunch of poetry/a short story for you in the near future, so stay tuned! I should have the poems posted a bit after Gay Pride, and the short story within the next month or so.
Some of you may know about my obsession with Brand New's album, The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me. I started writing short stories that correlate with the songs on the album. I've already written "Degausser", but I've started the project again. I started "Sowing Season", and here's the song by which it is inspired:

I tried really hard to embed the link so that it will play on my blog, but it looks like you're going to need to download it instead :( Sorry, guys.

It's about time something came from my obsession with this song/album/artist.
I should probably mention that there is something deeply heartbreaking/inspiring when Thom Yorke sings "In a little while/I'll be gone." It gets me everytime.

As you may know, I had to do a bunch of different projects for Creative Writing. One of which was to write a short story. Lately, I've been having terrible luck with my short stories, so I whipped one up last night. Well... it sucks. And no one is ever going to see it (except Dom, and I apologize for that.) So, I thought I'd regurgitate a story.
This one is technically "Sierra", but I basically have to strip it of everything that gave it meaning to Ceci and I. The guy isn't named Jade. I had to change the girl's name to Elissa, and I had to make it sound like it wasn't inspired by a Cursive song. It's not like I giving her "Deguasser", which was written for my HS Creative Writing class. This wasn't written for a class, but was just something I did for Ceci.
AND--It was probably the last good short story I've done. So, here'sSierra 2.0 ( Elissa )
Do you know what this means!? My portfolio for Creative Writing is--pretty much--FINISHED! Oh, Happy Day!
ETA: Actually, probs not the last good one I've done because I did "Degausser" last winter. DUH.

This is my Creative Nonfiction piece for my Creative Writing class. I wrote it in a couple hours, and I wasn't initially proud of it, but a friend of mine helped me see that it really isn't that bad. It is kind of long, though.

I'm very nearly almost done with all the Creative Writing stuff I have to do for finals! Then, 3 papers for Religion, and then to work on my Womens Studies project. Amid all that, there will be lots of packing and lots of cleaning!

I wrote this for my friend Ceci a long time ago. I'm still kind of proud of it. It's based on a song we loved by Cursive called "Sierra" from The Ugly Organ. She told me that she pictured Jade Puget (guitarist from AFI) as the man in the song. So, I tried it...

I wrote this for my high school Creative Writing class about a year and a half ago. I was going through an insanely pathetic Brand New obsession, and I had this big project planned out to go along with their album The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me. I still fucking ADORE that album, and I still plan on continuing my project. For now, however, this is all I have to show for that. My teacher really liked it, and she wanted a copy, but I never gave her one. Don't really know why. Note that Jesse is completely fictional. If this were to ever get published someday, I plan on changing the character's name.
